I'm not really sure what year this photo was taken but I would say the late 40's or early 50's. The bookmobile is now a van and only goes to playgrounds. There was nothing in the world as wonderful as books coming to you practically at your doorstep. And to think that kids today have to be bribed to read during the summer or worse yet ASSIGNED reading!

ReplyDeleteI loved the Bookmobile when it came to Woodsdale Park - is that what it is called? Such a treat to walk there and leisurely look for books. I was always afraid I'd miss it.
ReplyDeleteI also loved the bookmobile and was absolutely horrified when I discovered a book I had checked out in 4th grade among my miscellaneous rubble something like 25 years later!! I still feel a bit like a criminal!!
